Olympia Steel Buildings Metal Building Manufacturer Is Now IAS AC472 Certified!

Olympia Steel Buildings metal building manufacturer, Steel Built Corporation, has become the 16th manufacturing facility to successfully complete and pass the IASAC472 certification and accreditation requirements, approved and recognized for full manufacturing and engineering accreditation.

Architects, Engineers, Developers and specification writers throughout the United States are converting non-residential building specifications for metal buildings from AISC-MB criteria to IAS AC472 for qualified metal building manufacturers. IAS AC472 replaces the AISC-MB certification program that has provided third-party certification for metal building system manufacturers since 1989.

What this means is that Olympia Steel Buildings will continue to provide you with the same high quality pre-engineered steel buildings, competitively priced and now fully certified!

Pennsylvania Steel Building Manufacturer Awarded Renewal of IAS Certification of Accreditation

The steel building manufacturing facility that produces pre-engineered steel buildings for Olympia Steel Buildings, one of the world’s largest steel building companies in America, was recently awarded a renewal of their International Accreditation Service (IAS) Certificate of Accreditation. This accreditation is a three-part inspection program for Manufacturers of Metal Building Systems and includes: fabrication of structural weldments and cold-formed products requiring welding, fabrication of cold-formed products not requiring welding, and design of metal building systems

The steel building manufacturing facility is located in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, a town about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh.

“This quality certification is the standard for the metal building Industry and is equivalent to ISO 9001, 9003 or 9007 from a written specification compliance standpoint,” stated Pat Kern, General Manager of the facility.

Fabrication inspection procedures covered by this certification are conducted in accordance with the fabricator’s approved quality control manual and conducted periodically by Allied Testing and Geoscience, LLC at the Ambridge site. The purpose of the inspections is to monitor and verify continual compliance with requirements established in the IAS Accreditation Criteria for Inspection Programs for Manufacturers of Metal Building Systems.

“This renewal means that our facility not only meets all manufacturing requirements but also shows our customers how dedicated Olympia Steel Buildings is to producing the best products available in the market,” Kern said.

This steel buildings manufacturing facility is one of the most sophisticated in the steel building industry. The engineers, advanced computertechnologies and precision machinery exemplify the commitment to quality. Drafting and Detailing
The team of engineers and draftsmen utilize advanced CAD-CAM software created exclusively for the steel buildings industry. The factory engineers ensure that all buildings are engineered to meet or exceed local U.S. metal buildings codes, including snow load, wind speed and seismic requirements. Expert engineers on staff can provide stamped and certified permit drawings for every state in America including Hawaii and Alaska.

    Permit drawings include:
    • cover sheet with design loads and drawing index
    • anchor bolt drawings
    • column reactions
    • rigid frame elevations
    • side wall framing
    • end wall framing
    • roof framing, which includes sheeting drawings for side walls and end walls
    • detail drawings
NOTE: Foundation drawings are not included, however, they are available for small fee from an outside concrete engineering firm. If full-scale calculations are required, they are available for a small fee.

CNC Technology
The steel building factory utilizes Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) technology to create the highest quality secondary steel framing on the market today. The CNC machines use streams of digital information from CAD-CAM outputs to move motors and other positioning systems to cut, roll form and pre-punch bolt holes in steel components. Automated CNC technology enables the steel building factory to produce higher quality components in less time than competitors and pass substantial savings on to you.

Girt and Purlin Production
Every girt and purlin produced in the steel building factory is galvanized with a zinc coating which seals the surface of the steel to prevent rust. Unlike many steel buildings manufacturers, this rust-prevention treatment is standard all buildings we sell at no additional cost.

Welding Department
The steel building factory certified welders utilize the latest gas metal arc welding (GMWA) technology. The advanced twin-arc submerged welding system used is capable of manufacturing structural steel components up to 72 inches deep allowing the production of column-free buildings interiors up to 200 feet wide. All welded components must pass strict quality control requirements.

Trim Department
Many steel building manufacturers bend building eaves and trim by hand resulting in poor quality and substandard workmanship. The steel building factory trim department utilizes ten specialized roll forming machines to bend and form building eaves and trim. Many competing steel buildings manufacturers buy gutters and downspouts from other suppliers. The steel building factory has the machines and technology to manufacture gutters and downspouts, allowing the factory to strictly control quality, avoid the costs of buying components from other suppliers and pass substantial savings along to you.
