Rock & Brews, Pa’ia, Hawaii
History
The Rock & Brews chain of restaurants was founded by Dave Furano, a rock and roll concert promoter who had worked with some of the biggest names in the business.
He later formed a merchandising company with his brother Dell.
After meeting and doing business with Peter Morton of the Hard Rock Café chain, Dave realized what he wanted to do with his life: own rock and roll themed restaurants. In 2010, he and Dell made that a reality when they teamed up with well-known restaurant and hotel owner Michael Zislis. Then after a KISS concert and hanging out with longtime friends Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of KISS, Dave said “what’s better than Rock and Brews?” And the rest is history.
Current
Today, there are Rock & Brews across the United States, including Hawaii and even some International locations. The Pa’ia location is in an historic North Shore community not too far from the beach. This location is unique for several reasons. The building it’s now located in was one of ours—Olympia Steel Buildings sold the location to Furano when he came looking for a location in the state several years ago. We couldn’t be happier with what he’s done to the location.
Location
Rock and Brews likes to make each location a little bit unique, and with the Pa’ia location, they decided they wanted a local artist to paint murals throughout the building. They selected Maui resident A. C. Kahekiliui’la Lagunero, who in addition to being an artist is also one of the community’s spiritual leaders. The resulting art reflects the culture and history of Hawaii.
Naturally, any restaurant in Hawaii is going to have an outdoor patio in addition to an indoor dining room. The patio at Rock & Brews is incredibly popular. Set among the many different plants and flowers, patrons would never think that they’re sitting inside a steel building. There’s nothing that makes it look like steel.
Food
Rock & Brews offers the highest quality American comfort foods like sandwiches, hot wings, macaroni and cheese, ribs, and more. They also have a number of Hawaiian dishes or dishes that they’ve given a Hawaiian twist to, such as their spicy Maui Wowie pizza and Hawaiian street tacos. The bar serves beer, cocktails, wine, and fantastic cocktails.
